Rain halts South African charge
South Africa's hopes of a three-day win in the first Test over Bangladesh were scuppered by rain as only 19.2 overs were played on Friday in Bloemfontein.
The tourists lost two further wickets in that time, to reach 67-3 following on, still 221 runs behind South Africa.
Junaid Siddique batted 100 minutes for 27 as Bangladesh showed more resolve than in their first innings.

Katich half-century rescues Aussies
Australia rolled New Zealand for the cheap total of 156, but again failed to fire with the willow on day two of the 3 Mobile Test at the Gabba, reduced to 6-131 at stumps, with an overall lead of 189 runs.

Westwood to skipper Bears
Darren Maddy has relinquished his role as Warwickshire captain and the club have appointed opening batsman Ian Westwood, 26, in his place.
Former England all-rounder Maddy, 34, took the role for two years and led them to promotion in the County Championship in the 2008 summer.

India have recalled star batsman Sachin Tendulkar to their one-day side for the remaining four matches against England.
The 35-year-old opted out of the first three one-dayers as he wanted to rest after his side's recent series against Australia, but is now available again.

South Africa look well placed to wrap up victory in the first Test against Bangladesh after enforcing the follow-on in Bloemfontein on day two.
The Proteas declared on 441-9 before dismissing the tourists for just 153 in less than three hours.
Resuming on 299-1, South Africa soon lost centurions Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla, before Ashwell Prince's timely 59 helped push the score along.

South Africa's top order batsmen put them in control on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein.
Graeme Smith (138no) and Hashim Amla (103no) both stroked unbeaten centuries to lead the Proteas to 299-1.

Symonds named in Aussie team
Australia will bring back Andrew Symonds into the team for the first Test against New Zealand on Thursday.
Symonds was sent home from Australia's series against Bangladesh in August for skipping a team meeting to go fishing, but he will return in Brisbane.
"When he was deemed fit and ready to go, it was important we got Symo back in," said captain Ricky Ponting.

Swann likely to replace Bopara
Spinner Graeme Swann has been added to the England squad for the third one-day international in Kanpur on Thursday.
The Nottinghamshire off-spinner joins the 11 players who lost by 54 runs on Monday to go 2-0 down in the series.
Batsman Ravi Bopara missed training on Wednesday with a stomach complaint, while seamer Ryan Sidebottom was unable to bowl because of a back problem.

Gibbs signs on for Glamorgan
South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs has agreed to rejoin Glamorgan for most of the 2009 campaign.
The 34-year-old batsman played for the Dragons in last summer's Twenty20 Cup but has re-signed for July, August and September with an option to extend.
"I'm really excited about returning to Glamorgan, joining the team for the Twenty20 Cup last season was a great experience," Gibbs said......

County champions Durham have added former England spinner Ian Blackwell to their squad for next season.
The 30-year-old all-rounder has signed a three-year contract at the Riverside, bringing his eight-year association with Somerset to an end.

ECB consider Test delay request
The England and Wales Cricket Board are considering a request from their Indian counterparts to delay the start of the first Test by 24 hours.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India want to put back the start of the Ahmedabad Test until December 12 in order to allow India's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni an extra day of preparation.

Fletcher joins Proteas coaching team
Former England coach Duncan Fletcher has agreed to join South Africa's coaching staff on a consultancy basis.
The 60-year-old has agreed to work with the squad ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, which gets underway on Wednesday.
He will also be involved for the home-and-away series with Australia and also next season when the Proteas' major assignments are the ICC Champions Trop.....

England have failed to reach agreement with India over the release of players for next year's Indian Premier League.
Giles Clarke and David Collier of the England and Wales Cricket Board had a two-day meeting with IPL chairman Lalit Modi in Mumbai.
