Northants take Evans on loan(14-Apr-2010)
Northamptonshire have acquired the services of Durham seamer Luke Evans on an initial one month loan deal.
The 22-year-old will provide cover for the injured David Wigley at Wantage Road, and joins up with the squad on the eve of their four day fixture against Gloucestershire.
Speaking on the move south, Sunderland-born seamer Evans, who stands at 6ft 7in tall, said: "I'm really excited to have the opportunity to play some first team cricket for Northants.
"I've been in good form and I want to continue to progress and improve so that when an opportunity does arise at Durham I can grab it with both hands and have the experience to produce a first class contribution.
"The schedule for the next month is really intense and this will be a really good test for me."
Durham head coach, Geoff Cook added: "Luke really impressed in our pre-season preparation and this is a great opportunity for him to play some first class cricket and further develop his game.
"He has put in some excellent performances for our Second XI in previous seasons and his experience at Northants will undoubtedly be of real benefit."
